Our Firm’s History
Our building is an iconic and a well-known landmark in Calgary. Located on Macleod and 25th Avenue SW, a “stone throw” from the Saddledome and Calgary Stampede, the building was known to all as the “Humpty’s on Macleod”. It was enjoyed by Calgarians from 1990 – 2020.
Prior to 1990, the land where our building is situated, used to be a gas station site. The land was purchased in 1990 by Don Koenig, who went on to own and operate the Humpty’s franchise which at one point had 50 operating restaurants all across Canada. This site was not only Humpty’s flagship restaurant, but also the corporate head office which was located on the second floor of the building. This office now, has been renovated and the current Crash Lawyers’ office you see today.
In June of 2013, Calgary suffered a terrible flood. Many homes and businesses were demolished, and our building’s main floor was a disaster. Don Koenig, owner at the time, was resilient, and was able to fix the building and bring it back to life.
In April of 2020, our managing and founding partner, Ricky Bagga saw opportunity when this iconic building was available for sale. Keep in mind, the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak, and Calgary was in its first lock down. Everyone was hesitant to purchase real estate, while Mr. Bagga saw opportunity. We closed on the purchase of this building in late 2020 and never looked back. It was important for us to maintain the essence of the rich history of the building, all while giving the building a much-needed refresh.
In 2021, the building was renamed to MAC25 Centre, and the current home of Crash Lawyers on the upper second floor, and a Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Pharmacy, and Medical Clinic on the main floor. It really has become the “one stop shop” for anyone injured in an car accident due to no fault of their own.
From its stately yet homey roots, our building continues to be a warm and welcoming place for all who enter. We look forward to serving your legal needs at our office.
